1. Expositional Preaching

Preach rightly the Word of God. This style of preaching makes the main point of the text the main point of the sermon and therefore makes God's agenda rule the church; not the preacher's. The Word presents all that which we are to believe and to do.

Romans 10:14 2 Timothy 4:2 Hebrews 4:12

2. Biblical Theology

Everything that we believe, teach and sing will be Biblically true. Everything we do as a church will be in line with the Word of God. Sound doctrine is absolutely essential for a healthy church.

John 4:23-24 Titus 2:1

3. The Gospel

God has rescued us by Jesus' work on the Cross, and His victory over sin, death and Satan through the Resurrection. Everything in our church flows from its understanding of the gospel, whether preaching, counseling, discipleship, music, evangelism, missions and so on.

John 3:16 Romans 3:24-25 Ephesians 2:13 Ephesians 2:10

4. A Biblical Understanding of Conversion

Conversion recognizes that only God can save, and that He saves individuals by enabling them to respond to the gospel message through repenting of sin and trusting in Christ. In true conversion…God brings to life that which was once dead.

Ephesians 2:5 Ephesians 2:8 Acts 11:18 Mark 1:15

5. A Biblical Understanding of Evangelism

This is a clarity in our role in the mission that God has given to the church, including sharing and living out the gospel. Evangelism includes serving and reaching out to the world!

Matthew 28:19-20 1 Peter 3:15

6. A Biblical Understanding of Church Membership

Membership is a covenant that every member should make to attend, love, serve and submit to a local church. It is important because the church is God's witness to the world.

1 Corinthians 5:12-13 Hebrews 10:24-25

7. Biblical Church Discipline

This is everything the church does to help its members pursue holiness and fight sin. It is the act of correcting sin in a loving way with restoration as the end goal.

1 Corinthians 5:12-13 Matthew 18:15-17

8. A Concern for Discipleship and Growth

This teaches that a living Christian must be a growing Christian. The goal of discipleship is to see the Christian truly becoming "Christ-like".

2 Peter 3:18 Ephesians 4:15-16

9. Biblical Church Leadership

The Bible teaches that each local church should be led by a plurality of Godly qualified men called elders Acts 14:23 Acts 20:17 1 Timothy 4:14 1 Timothy 5:17 James 5:14. Paul lays out the qualifications for elders1 Timothy 3:1-7 Titus 1:5-9. God gifts churches with elders to feed God's sheep with God's WordJohn 21: 15-17; guide the sheep 1 Timothy 4:16 1 Peter 5:3 Hebrews 13:7; and protect the sheep from attackersActs 20: 27-29 2 Timothy 4:3-4 Titus 1:9 while protecting both themselves and the church through the wisdom of their plurality Proverbs 11:14 Proverbs 24:6.
