Romans 2:17-29

Even for the most religious Jew, salvation from the wrath of God is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. "The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom [we are] the foremost” (1 Timothy 1:15). And we have received this mercy so that Jesus might show off his perfect patience as an example to the lost. The world does not need to witness an external righteousness from us. They need to witness someone who daily experiences the grace of the King of the ages.

In your CG this week, talk about faith in Jesus. Spend time with this week’s Scriptures below and reflect with the following questions and prompts. Allow the Scriptures to strengthen your faith and grow in you an even greater dependence on Christ—the righteous.

M: Romans 2:17-29 T: Matthew 23:1-39 W: 1 Timothy 1:12-17 TH: Philippians 3:1-11

Read 1 Timothy 1:12-17. What truth do you need to submit to by faith?

A good example of religious hypocrisy is found in Matthew 23:1-39. In what ways are you a hypocrite? In what ways do you teach others what is right but do wrong yourself? Confess 1 Timothy 1:15-16. Fully accept this saying and let Jesus display his perfect patience through you sinners.

Pray Philippians 3:9-11. Pray also for the unrighteous. Pray that as you boast in the Lord, they will likewise come to receive the righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
